At Least They’re Trying…

So there’s this thing going on right now in the Motor City, the Detroit Motor Show. And as expected, many cars are being debuted. And here’s one, a mid-engined AWD supercar. And would you believe, it’s a Honda!? Yeah, the company that killed off great cars like the S2000, and the *real* Civic Si (which is now a joke of a sporty compact). They also killed off the brilliant NSX, well until today. It’s back. Yes, in case you’re a bit thick, this very car is the return of the NSX.

Yes, it’s a concept. But don’t worry, it’s coming. Or so they say. We’ll see, this is Honda after all. And while this concept is a stunning looking thing, I don’t know. For me, it’s missing that certain something. I don’t know, the looks the stats, it just doesn’t wow me. Maybe my tune will change when this thing get’s closer to production, but it just doesn’t wow me in the same way other supercar debutes do. Maybe Honda was just a little to late to the party? The LF-A and GT-R sure think so.

Honda CR-Z Hybrid-R

You know, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a car post. So, why not bring them back with this. Now, this is a hybrid I can sort of get behind. I admit that I was never a fan of the CR-Z, and to be honest I’m still not. But for some reason, the ricer inside me (don’t lie, you know you all have one too!) really sort of…..likes this Hybrid-R concept Honda put out for SEMA. The numbers are still lacking I guess, but 200hp and 175 lb-ft of torque isn’t bad right? Sure, the normally aspirated Civic Si makes the same power numbers, but this is a hybrid remember? And I should point out that the car this is based (the racing version) on wasn’t built for all out speed, but built for endurance (racing). Then the hybrid thing starts to make a little more sense. Sure, it’s no 911 GT3 RS-H, but at least Honda is trying right? Right??

However cool this thing is though, and thank the lord it’s seen the light of day to begin with, there is slim chance Honda will actually build something like this for normal people to buy at dealerships across the country. So yeah, yet another cock-tease from a dying sports-car company. Oh well, at least the aftermarket will almost certainly let you build your own Hybrid-R if you so desire.

“Honda NSX” by

My friend turned me on to this video, and I have to say, it’s one of the best, most well-made videos I’ve ever seen, for an amateur anyway. Epic music, epic shots, epic car, epic WIN. And it features Ayrton Senna, one of the (if not THE) greatest F1 drives of the modern era. Take a watch if you have the time, it’s great!

The “New” Ride

Remember what I said in my post a few days ago about a CRX? Yeah, so I picked one up last night. It’s a 91 Si, and besides the ricer coilovers and ridiculous intake, it’s stock. The interior is what sold me, as it’s in great condition. I’m not exactly sure what my plans are for the car yet, but this is going to be my fun-to-drive weekend-mobile and maybe autocrosser. First thing I need to do is scrap this crappy sleeve coilover springs.

Another one in my future?? I’m really thinking about it at the moment…

My First “Euro”

A lot of friends have been telling me I have a weird obsession with Euro-cars these days. And with the amount of Top Gear I’ve been watching, they’d be right. I’m almost 90% certain my next car will be of European descent. However I realized last night that it won’t be my first. Well, sort of…

The Bike is Dead….

Long live the CB1!!!

So yeah, very low compression means that an engine rebuild is probably in order. Which I don’t wanna do. Bummer, I really liked the CB1, and it was rare. Well, looks like it’s time to look for another bike…

My (sort-of) Honda CB1

Well, my adventure on two-wheel’s kinda-sorta begins today: I have acquired this 1990 Honda CB1 as my starter bike. Although the bike won’t be in my possession for a little while. Confused? Read on…
