I Think I’ve Found My New Dream Car
January 14, 2011Posted by on
Forget Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, and Audi R8s. THIS is my new dream car. The name Mugen should ring the bell of any Honda enthusiast, so the fact that the storied tuning firm has graced the already awesome Ariel Atom with a bit of their Honda-magic should excite any fan of (old, not as they are now) the red H.
Sure, its slower than the supercharged version of Atom, but straight line is only a small part of the equation. And with 270HP (out of a 2.0L 4 cylinder ALL MOTOR no less!), it’s not exactly a sea slug either. It still does the 0-60 sprint in a Zonda F-busting 2.9 seconds! And with a revised suspension and brakes, it should be even more of a pleasure on the track.
The reason I love this so much is the motor itself. Sure you don’t have the raw grunt of a super-charger, but I’m always a sucker for the instant throttle response a normally aspirated motor can provide. Plus, NA just sounds ten times better on full throttle with the (ricer alert ahead) VTEC on full-song. My new dream two-car garage consists of a BMW 1M and one of these.
