2011 Subaru Impreza WRX
March 22, 2010Posted by on
Subaru released images of the updated Impreza WRX, due to be officially revealed at the upcoming New York Auto Show. It seems like just yesterday that Subaru upped the power and beefed the suspension up in the WRX, and now they seem to be pushing it ever so closely to big-brother STI. Both the hatchback and sedan (pictured above) are the update. Besides the obvious STI-inspired wide-body look (which looks great on the sedan I must say), the track itself is 1.5 inches wider, and with the wider stance comes wider rims/tires: 17x8s wrapped in 235/45/R17 tires.
While I’m all for improving a car that’s so beloved to me (especially updating the mundane looks of the sedan), I have to question why Subaru continues to push the WRX ever so closely to the STI. Seriously, I couldn’t blame anyone for choosing a WRX over and STI for reasons OTHER than cost. Of course, this could also mean that the STI is due for a big update?? Heh heh….
