My it’s been awhile huh? Well, 2500 miles with the BRZ and here’s the short story: it’s a wonderful, fantastic, brilliant car. Want the longer version? Hit the jump.

Winding Road, Part Deux

Me and friend of the blog R. Shiroma (who I must once again give credit to the photo for!) took our local winding road (you know the one I mentioned in an earlier post) for a spin this early evening. Got to push the car a bit more not having to worry about as much militant joggers (although we still did run into people walking their dogs, in darkness, weird…).

And…..yup, I still love this car. It’s just so much easier to drive that much faster on this type of road than my WRX was. Sure you put a pro driver in the seat without the inhibitions you get with driving a public road and I guarantee the WRX will be faster. But I’m not Sebastian Vettel, and I need to worry about old ladies walking their dogs. So in the real world? Yeah, I’ll take the BRZ please.

The BIG BRZ Post

So I got’s a BRZ. I’ve been hyping this car since last November when the production version was officially released. And god damnit you’re probably sick to death of me right? Well friends, I’m sorry but I need to make this post. So here we go, my full initial impressions of the BRZ. Want the tl;dr version? It’s a fantastic little car.

Two Years in the Waiting.

After two years of waiting, obbsessing, and fawning over project FT-86, the time has come. Yesterday I finally took delivery of my very own 2013 Subaru BRZ. Quick impressions after the jump…

A New Viper, and All is Well With The World.

I’ve never been a HUGE fan of the Viper to be brutally honest. BUT I can agree that the world is THAT much beter a place because another V10 powered super-coupe exists. Ever since Fiat has taken over Chrysler, I’ve been curious to see if any Ferrari tech would some how leak it’s way down the corporate ladder. And while they share the same interior designers (apparently), this thing is all America. With a nicer interior. How could you hate that? Personally there’s something good about SRT keeping true to it’s own USA roots and not relying on it’s big Italian brother to help it with a go-fast car.

Viper, welcome back. I await seeing someone use you to write your name in rubber (go watch Top Gear if you don’t know what I’m talking about!).

BRZ, Up Close and (Not-So) Personal

 

Look, by now you’re all probably sick of hearing me profess my love for this car from the top of my blog mountain-top, and if you are I apologize for maybe over-saturating it. However, I’m NOT going to apologize for the borderline obsession I have over this car.

Worth the Price of Admission

Alright I’m sick of the lot of you complaining that the FR-S (and subsequently the BRZ) is too expensive and not worth it. Wait, that’s a bit harsh. What I’m really sick of is the people comparing it to the *cheaper* Hyundai Genesis. Please, just listen and let me explain my reasoning…

I’ve Got a Confession…

So I was recently re-watching this Chirs Harris comparo that isn’t really a comparo…..er just watch the film and you’ll get it. Anyway, I noted that (twice) in the video, Chirs bemoans people claiming the GT-R has no soul no character. And it got me thinking: You know what? I think it’s time I come clean about something…

America, Duck yeah!

Okay, I admit it, I’m in love in with what Ford is doing these days. I like their modern design-language. And I even love the way they drive. The Focus, the Fiesta, the Mustang. And now we have this, the new Mondeo……I mean Fusion. Sure, the nose is very Aston-ish, but since when was that a bad thing? It is THE best looking family sedan on sale right now, no arguments. And unless your boring (read: you care about reliability), or racist, you’d be stupid to pick a Camry or Accord over it. If I had a family I’d buy one. But I don’t, so I won’t, and that’s beside the point.

People have actually asked me what kind of mid-sized sedan they should buy. Seriously, thats how BIG this type of car is, people actually ask someone like ME what kind they should buy. Anyway, I’ve always recommended the new Hyundai Sonata, as I’ve always felt it’s the best complete package. I may have to change my tune now, the Fusion is MUCH more handsome than the Sonata. And I’m almost certain it’ll be the better driver. Plus it comes with a choice of TWO turbo engines! How awesome is that? If you can’t have a high-revving N/A, then boost For The Win as we like to say. You’re just a tune away from more useable power!

So in conclusion? USA USA USA!
